In 2007 the Netherlands experienced the worlds largest Q-fever outbreak. Like COVID-19 Q-fever is an infectious disease that is transmitted by animals to humans. 50,000 to 100,000 people got infected. At least 95 people died directly. 1500 people are permanently ill, with no prospect of a cure. In 2019 I traveled through the country to visit them. Besides beautiful portraits it also produced moving personal stories.
